| Abstract Passenger congestion in UK metro systems remains a persistent operational and safety challenge, particularly during peak hours when overcrowding leads to bottlenecks, delays, and increased safety risks. Existing modelling approaches often emphasise on quantitative assessments while overlooking human decision-making, organisational constraints, and systemic interactions. This study addresses this gap using Cognitive Work Analysis (CWA) to develop a systems-based approach to crowd management. This study furthers outlines the feasibility of AI in crowd management at UK metro stations. |
