| Abstract Fatigue presents a significant risk for safety-critical systems such as the railway. Reaction time, which is crucial in tasks such as train driving, offers a valid proxy for fatigue. This study analysed driver reactions to vigilance alerts from on-train (‘black box’) data to show that both temporal and workload factors can affect driver performance, demonstrating the feasibility of this method as an objective means of detecting early indicators of driver fatigue. |
